![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm sure there are more that I've not found as well as more in development. When used in conjunction with Bridge, Lightroom Classic does a solid job keeping your photographs neatly organized on your hard drive. You no longer have to say, "I would like to show you a picture, but it is in my computer."Ī third process (I'm currently learning) is the improved ability to choose Lightroom (desktop) Classic images to put on an easy to create and maintain personal website using the Adobe Portfolio that is included in the Photographers CC plan. Thanks to a simplified workspace, Lightroom makes editing your photos a speedy and robust experience. That may only be important if you have friends or family (granddaughters!) that choose to have Instagram be important to them.Īnother example is improvements in being able to show your Lightroom (desktop) Classic favorites to people using smartphones, tablets or other's computers. One example is the ease of getting an image from Lightroom (desktop) Classic to Instagram. It is reasonable and advantages to use both together. Lightroom stores your images in the cloud. Lightroom is available on mobile, desktop and as a web-based version. In other words, it is not one or the other. The primary difference to understand is that Lightroom Classic is a desktop based application and Lightroom (old name: Lightroom CC) is an integrated cloud based application suite. Lightroom CC is the most favorable and smart choice for beginners whereas lightroom classic. What I'm learning is that it is really two parts of system that can be connected with capabilities the parts don't have separately. Lightroom app has two versions: Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC. After talking to Adobe support I decided to migrate my classic images to Lightroom CC and then start a brand new Classic catalog and only store Smart previews locally. But that toolset will grow as Lightroom CC matures.Ībove I wrote, "Adobe is doing a terrible job of marketing." That was two months ago. Consequently, the toolset is somewhat limited as this new approach is being developed. The plan is to have tools that are the same on all devices. Lightroom CC as the "core" features that many Lightroom users have grown to depend on and use most of the time, and has the added benefit of making images immediately available on the computer as well as on all mobile devices for access whether at home or on the go. Lightroom Classic CC continues that decade old tradition of file-based Lightroom with images stored on the computer, and has all the features that Lightroom users have become accustomed to, with some additional cloud-based features. Both programs are alive and well and serve different purposes. In reality, it is still being developed and supported right along with Lightroom CC. It would seem that the naming convention for the versions of Lightroom has tended to steer people away from Lightroom Classic CC, making many users think that it is the "old" version that is being phased out. ![]()
